About the Event

The C.A.T. Walk & Fun Run is a fun, family-friendly activity to enjoy on the 4th of July in downtown Hillsboro. It combines three events—a Kids’ Dash, timed 5K walk/run, and a health fair.

The Tuality Healthcare Foundation has once again teamed up with AA Sports, Ltd. to bring the MYLAPS “Chip on the Bib” Timing System to the 2016 C.A.T. Walk and Fun Run.

The “Chip on the Bib” Timing System allows for real time, accurate race results. Race results will be available immediately upon completion of the race. Official results will be available online following the race.

USA Track & Field Certified Course

The C.A.T. Walk course is a USATF-certified course. This ensures that our race has been accurately measured and adheres to the requirements set forth by the USATF.

The Course

The 5K (3.1 mile) course winds through the streets of downtown Hillsboro. Participants will also get a premiere view of the staging areas for the 4th of July Parade. The C.A.T. Walk is a USATF certified course.

A USATF-certified course is a road race course whose distance has been certified for accuracy. Courses must be certified for any road running performance to be accepted as a record or to be nationally ranked. Furthermore, running a race on a certified course allows you to accurately compare your time to performances run on other certified courses because you can be sure the distances were the same. No one can truly establish a personal best if the course distance is not accurate.
